We all know that it is who you know not what you know. In today's employment and business situations this statement has become all too apparent. Regardless if you are a person looking to the right opportunity or if you are a business looking for the next deal, networking in Daytona Beach has to be a priority tool in your bag of tricks. As an individual does it not make sense that you would look for a company that is involved in networking? As a business owner, don't you want a person on your team that knows the importance of connections throughout the town?

In no particular order, here are the top 'Gotta Be There' networking events in the Daytona Beach area.

Wine Down Wednesday - While this may be touted as a wine tasting event, make no mistake, the wines that are being sipped are in the hands of the movers and shakers of Daytona Beach. This casual event is held each Wednesday amid three waterfalls and ancient oaks. Just the ambiance is conducive to making deals and building relationships. Held each Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:30 PM Location: Martini's Chophouse 1815 S. Ridgewood Ave South Daytona, FL 386-763-1090 www.MartinisChopHouse.com

Daytona Beach Young Professionals Group - Commonly referred to as YPG this group is comprised of both up and coming and already there professionals. The ages in this group range from young twenty something to mid forties. With several hundred members and a very active board, this is a great group to see and be seen with. Events include not only the famous third Thursday but power lunches and social gatherings.
Location: Varies - See event calendar at www.DaytonaYPG2007.com

Daytona Beach Chamber of Commerce - This is, of course, the traditional networking route. Monthly 'Business After Hours' is a combination of doing business and just hanging out. Open to both members and non-members this monthly event is held at different locations throughout the area.
Location: Varies - See event calendar at www.DaytonaChamber.com

If you want to keep up to date on where to be and what is going on locally, tune your dial to Wake Up Daytona each morning from 6:00 to 9:00 AM. While not a traditional networking event, the host of this early morning talk radio show, Doug Kosarek, is in-the-know and should be listened to by anyone with any interest in the happenings in Daytona Beach, regardless if it is political, business or social.
Location: WNDB 1150AM and www.WakeUpDaytona.com

It is just that easy. There are literally hundreds of other organizations, committees, industry groups, and informal meetings that happen all over this city. That does not even count the very active online networking groups in Daytona Beach. Make sure you follow us on Twitter.com and we will help you keep updated and in the know on where to be each week.

I vote for Wine Down Wednesday. But job hunting plus wine tasting could be a disaster.
